Central Irrigation Trust pumps water from the River Murray through large diameter pipeline systems to 1,600 growers who irrigate 14,000 hectares of horticultural crops in 12 Irrigation Districts in the Riverland Region of South Australia.

The irrigation systems consist of a network of pumps and pipes, delivering water to over 14,000 hectares. To help share the pipeline capacity, a water order system is used to keep them in balance. Irrigators can order water as often as they choose from the system anywhere between 10 minutes and 14 days in advance.
