2026-27 Allocation Outlook SA River Murray

The State Government has released its River Murray Water Allocation Statement for the 2026–27 water year.

• The projected minimum (worst‑case) opening allocation for SA River Murray entitlements on 1 July 2026 is 62%.
• Because the opening allocation is above 50%, private carryover will not be available in the 2026–27 water year.

Storage levels across the River Murray system remain below long‑term averages, following generally below‑average inflows over the past two years.

Looking ahead

• Under wet or average conditions, allocations are likely to reach 100% by later in the 2026–27 water year.
• Under moderate to very dry conditions, allocations are less likely to reach full allocation.
• If improvements occur, they are most likely between July and November 2026, following the main rainfall and inflow period.

The next allocation update will be issued on Friday, 15 May 2026.
