2025-26 Annual Report

The Annual General Meeting for all 12 Irrigation Trusts was held on August 29th. Those present at the AGM heard from the Irrigation Trusts about the highlights during 2025-26.

💧 Central Irrigation Trust Annual Report 2025/26 Highlights 💧

Despite a challenging year marked by reduced water availability, industry pressures, and ongoing Basin Plan reforms, Central Irrigation Trust (CIT) continued to deliver irrigation services across the Riverland while maintaining a strong financial position.

2025/26 by the numbers:
✅ $22.8 million operating revenue
✅ $682,000 operating surplus
✅ 94.8 GL combined water entitlements
✅ 94.7 GL of water delivered to members
✅ 1,672 irrigation members supported
✅ $74.3 million Asset Replacement Reserve, with 10.38% return on investments

🔧 Investing in the future
This year CIT delivered infrastructure upgrades, including pump station improvements, pipeline repairs and maintenance, and the major Waikerie Pumping Station suction structure replacement project.

🌱 Advocating for Riverland irrigators
CIT actively represented irrigation communities during Basin Plan Review consultations, ensuring the voice of Riverland irrigators is heard as future water policies are developed.

⚡ Managing rising costs
With energy remaining CIT’s largest operating expense, our long-term procurement strategy continues to provide members with greater price stability while exploring future opportunities.

While challenges remain, CIT is financially and operationally sound, and committed to investing in infrastructure, supporting our members, and supporting irrigated agriculture across the Riverland.
